Portfolio Project Overview
The web design project for Highlands Design Resource focused on creating a robust online presence that catered to the company’s unique business needs. As a product resource library exclusively serving professional designers, the website needed to reflect both the boutique atmosphere of the physical showroom and provide essential functionality for its target audience. A user-friendly, visually appealing interface was crafted, integrating features that facilitate seamless interaction between the company and its clientele.
At the heart of the website is a responsive design, which ensures optimal viewing across all devices, from desktops to mobile phones. The homepage features an engaging slider, created with Slider Revolution, that showcases the company’s latest products and events. This visually striking introduction sets the tone for the rest of the site, which is designed to be informative, easy to navigate, and functional for professional designers.
A critical feature of this project was the integration of an event calendar to promote upcoming workshops and events hosted by Highlands Design Resource. To meet this need, we installed and configured the Events Manager plugin, allowing the client to effortlessly manage event listings and registrations. This tool ensures designers stay informed about valuable learning opportunities offered by Highlands Design Resource.
In addition to public-facing features, the website also includes a vendor catalog and specialized user account management capabilities, achieved using the Ultimate Member plugin. One of the client’s key requirements was restricting certain content to registered members only. By implementing Ultimate Member, we successfully created a gated access system that ensures only verified designers can view specific content, protecting the integrity of Highlands Design Resource’s business model.
The user registration and content restriction system were designed to ensure ease of use for both the website administrators and the designers accessing the platform. Designers can quickly register, log in, and access exclusive content, all while the client manages memberships and permissions seamlessly from the WordPress backend.
