GreenValleyLocal.com serves as a digital hub for businesses in the Green Valley, AZ area, offering a robust business directory that caters to local residents and companies. This project, powered by WordPress and enhanced with the flexibility of The7 Theme, presented a unique opportunity to build a user-friendly, fully responsive platform that addressed the client’s specific needs. The website features an intuitive design, supported by modern web technologies such as WPBakery Page Builder and Slider Revolution, to provide a visually engaging experience that functions seamlessly across devices.
One of the core challenges in the development of GreenValleyLocal.com was creating a dynamic business directory that mirrored the client’s established printed directory for the local area. The goal was to offer businesses an effective online advertising solution while giving users the ability to search, view, and interact with these listings in real time. To accomplish this, we integrated and customized the GeoDirectory plugin, ensuring that businesses could be easily added, edited, claimed, or removed directly through the frontend of the website. This functionality provided local businesses with greater control over their listings and enhanced the overall user experience for visitors.
Beyond the standard features of GeoDirectory, a custom solution was developed to solve a specific issue with the category listings. The directory needed alphabetical subheadings to improve the clarity and navigation of business categories, but this feature wasn’t available out-of-the-box. To address this, we developed a custom plugin that extended GeoDirectory’s existing capabilities, allowing for the automatic insertion of alphabetical subheadings. This custom development significantly improved the usability of the directory for both businesses and users searching for local services.
In addition to the directory, the website includes an event calendar, giving the directory publisher, SWB Group, a platform to share local news, business highlights, and community events. This feature adds value to both users and businesses by fostering a sense of connection within the local area. With a blend of strong technical features and custom development, GreenValleyLocal.com now serves as a comprehensive online solution for local business advertising and community engagement.
